The total calories your body burns each day consists of:
Basal Metabolic Rate + Lifestyle Calories

Lifestyle calories are calories burned while performing your everyday routines (gym workout, housework, light walking, sports, etc.) To maintain your weight, you should eat within a reasonable range of your total calories burned.
